Due to a high level of interest, please join us on Monday, December 10 from 1:00-2:30 pm CST / 2:00-3:30 pm EST for a rebroadcast of a webinar that was offered on November 20, 2018. We are offering a second opportunity for interested stakeholders to call in and hear a rebroadcast of the webinar.
This webinar will provide a brief overview of information and updates on work under the Nutrients Annex of the Great Lakes Water Quality Agreement (GLWQA) to address excess phosphorus loads leading to toxic and nuisance algal blooms in Lake Erie. Topics that will be covered include:
- An introduction to the issue of toxic and nuisance algae and the establishment of Canada-U.S. phosphorus reduction targets for Lake Erie.
- An update on phosphorus loads to the western and central basins of Lake Erie (2008–2016), as well as the status of this year’s bloom.
- An update on domestic action plans to achieve phosphorus reductions in Lake Erie.
- A description of next steps, including research priorities moving forward.
The webinar will again be led by Annex Co-Leads Santina Wortman (U.S. Environmental Protection Agency) and Tricia Mitchell (Environment and Climate Change Canada), and will include presentations by experts from the Nutrients Annex Subcommittee.
The GLWQA Lakewide Management Annex’s Lake Erie Partnership Outreach and Engagement Subcommittee is pleased to partner with the Nutrients Annex to host this webinar. This is the first annual Nutrients Annex webinar.
