The 2012 Great Lakes Water Quality Agreement, which entered into force in February of 2013, includes a commitment to develop and implement lakewide habitat and species protection and restoration conservation strategies by February of 2015. These strategies, developed for each of the Great Lakes, identify priority objectives for habitat and species restoration, protection, and conservation. Each strategy is a product of extensive collaboration among lakewide regional and local partners and stakeholders and reflects the unique nature of each lake and its conservation needs.
