The Great Lakes Water Quality Agreement (GLWQA) commits Canada and the United States to prepare and issue Binational Strategies to reduce the release and impact of Chemicals of Mutual Concern (CMCs). The Binational Screening Criteria for nominated CMCs are now available. These screening criteria were developed to provide a consistent framework for reviewing nominated CMCs under the GLWQA.

A guidance document and an example nomination have been developed to assist in the nomination process. Both documents offer support and guidance for organizations or individuals wishing to nominate a specific chemical for consideration as a candidate CMC.
