Posted: September 4, 2024

Join us as we explore chemical contaminants in Lake Ontario sediments. Register for our upcoming public webinar, “Getting to the bottom of things: Sediment contamination,” taking place on Wednesday, November 13, 2024 at 12 pm ET.

Learn how sediments become contaminated, different approaches to remediation and efforts being taken by Canada and the U.S. to address the issue. We will also explore the Randle Reef project in Hamilton Harbour, which is the largest contaminated sediment site on the Canadian side of the Great Lakes. As well we’ll hear about past and ongoing sediment remediation projects in various U.S. Areas of Concern. You’ll have the opportunity to ask questions of our experts during an interactive Q&A session and learn what actions you can take to stop the introduction of chemical contaminants in Lake Ontario.

Guest speakers include Rupert Joyner (Environment and Climate Change Canada), Bill Fitzgerald (Hamilton-Oshawa Port Authority) and Chris Seslar (U.S. Environmental Protection Agency).
