Do you want to learn more about chemical contaminants in Lake Huron? If so, mark your calendars for Monday, December 11, 2023, at 1 p.m. CT (2 p.m. ET). We will be hosting a one-hour public webinar, “Chemical Contaminants in Lake Huron”, as part of our Let’s Talk Lake Huron webinar series!
Hear about the joint efforts of Canada and the U.S. to address Chemicals of Mutual Concern (CMCs), which are substances that pose significant environmental and human health risks in the Great Lakes. Learn more about PFAS, the “forever chemicals” and their presence in our waters and the ecosystem. We will also learn about a community fish consumption survey conducted in Ontario’s St. Marys River region and how this information will help with future research and monitoring initiatives in the area.
Guest speakers include Jacqueline Peters (Environment and Climate Change Canada), Brandon Reid (Michigan Department of Health and Human Services) and Lisa Derickx (Algoma University).
This webinar is free, open to the public, and suitable for anyone who is passionate about the Great Lakes!
Registration is now closed.
