The 2021 Annual Climate Trends and Impacts Summary for the Great Lakes Basin, led by Environment and Climate Change Canada and the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and a partnership of climate services organizations in the U.S. and Canada, provides an overview of the climate trends and impacts in the basin for the year, including:

  • Information on the past year’s climate trends in the Great Lakes Basin – how ‘normal’ the climate and lake levels were;
  • A summary of some of the major climatic events; and,
  • A summary of relevant new climate research and activities.

The Summary provides a longer-term trend analysis and compilation of the existing Great Lakes Quarterly Climate Summaries. It is intended for use by managers and practitioners at federal, state, provincial, regional, and local scales, as well as for stakeholders and the general public.
