Binational Public Engagement for the Negotiations to Amend the Great Lakes Water Quality Agreement (GLWQA)
The Governments of Canada and the United States (the Parties) recognize the importance of engaging the Great Lakes community as they proceed with the negotiations to amend the GLWQA. To ensure broad and meaningful public engagement through-out the process, the Parties have arranged a number of opportunities to engage the public.
Report on the negotiations to amend the GLWQA
The Governments of the United States and Canada (the Parties) recently held the final negotiation session and the amended GLWQA is now in the process of being finalized and approved.
The Parties would like to take the opportunity to report to the public on the outcome of the negotiation sessions and provide an overview of the amendments put forward to Governments for approval. The presentation will include a description of the conceptual consensus reached on what should be in an amended Agreement.
There will also be time for clarifying questions and answers.
